Meeting the Lenormand: 3. Ship

In the Getting Started with Lenormand post I provided a list of simple associations which included:

Ship, 10 of Spades, Travel by Motor, Slow, Commerce, Longing, Journeys, Foreign

Ahh the Ship, that romantic and ponderous if treacherous mode of connectedness of yore.

Here we see Slow for the first time in the Lenormand. We have to consider that before motor engines that sailing would take months if not years to reach our destination. So we see here the continuum of progressed time. Months and years. Practically however it also means long distance travel by motor, either by car, boat or plane. We are looking at crossing countries if not oceans.

It can also speak of Commerce, as well established trading vessel the Ship can mean literally shipping companies. Parcels, not letters.

Much like the romance, we associate with the historical fiction of Sailors. Lovers separated we see here the longing and yearning for a lover, know or unknown.

It also speaks of Foreigner’s (to the querent), a person not of this land. In questions of prospective lovers if pair close to a Signifier (Man, Lady, Rider, Snake), we see a prospective lover, not from their ‘native’ land. It can also mean a person who is worldly and well-travelled.

The Journey can be both figurative and literal. Literally it can be the travel over water. But within the self? The diving to great depths of self to swim in the oceans of self discovery and immersion. In this way, it can also indicate a Spiritual awakening.

As always remember that Context is Key, and allow the space to consider what is being expressed broadly as well as narrowly.

Keep an eye out for tomorrows post, House.

Love and Manyfold Blessings.
