In the Getting Started with Lenormand post I provided a list of simple associations which included:
Tree, 7 of Hearts, Health, Ancestry, Nature, Time, SLOW, Spirits, Boring.
Tree is sturdy and worldly. All of us I am sure have spent some time with a Tree.
Culturally we also refer to the ‘Family Tree’, here we see how the Tree relates to Ancestry and even Health. It speaks to the interconnectedness of life. ‘The Apple doesn’t fall far from the Tree’. Even though we can not always see how we are connected. Just like Forests, our roots intertwine.
We can see here how Tree speaks of Nature, Time and is Slow. If we plant a seed and it grows into a Tree, it can take decades, and in some cases live hundreds of years. It is consistent in its growth. for a tree, a year or even a decade could simply be a moment of time. It also calls us to be part of the Natural world to explore and connect. For us in a world that is often fast-paced embracing Tree’s millimetre by millimetre growth would be Boring
Lastly we see Spirit. Connected to and part of the Worlds. Chthonic, Terrestrial and Ouranic. Underworld, Earthly and Heavenly. A tree spans all these realms. It is simultaneously connected to all at once. As a Person we can see a Intermediary, a Shepard and Caretaker. It can also refer to Spirits as a Signifier.
As always remember that Context is Key, and allow the space to consider what is being expressed broadly as well as narrowly.
