In the Getting Started with Lenormand post I provided a list of simple associations which included:
Coffin, 9 of Diamonds, Natural endings, Death, Transitions, Loss, Illness, Debt, Grim, Box
Coffin is, without doubt, the most ‘malefic’ card in the Lenormand. we see the literal meanings of Death, Loss, Illness and Debt. Here also looms the Grim inevitability.
Coffin also means Natural endings and Transitions, we have to be mindful that the Coffin stands at the brink of the Great Unkown.
We also see that it means literally a Box. In some cases, it can be talking about storage or even places to hide objects of worth.
In relation to people, Coffin is a warning of what is to come. Or a sign of short-lived relationships.
Coffin can be seen to indicate the use or inclination towards Necromancy. Or the use of baneful and destructive magic, in relation to a person or the types of magic being enquired about.
As always remember that Context is Key, and allow the space to consider what is being expressed broadly as well as narrowly.
