Meeting the Lenormand: 11. Birch

In the Getting Started with Lenormand post I provided a list of simple associations which included:

Birch/Broom, Jack of Clubs, Repetition, Discomfort, Discord, Correction, Friction, Manual, Phallus.

Birch is perhaps easiest to think of as a disciplinarian. Like the piano teacher who smacked your knuckles with a switch. Or a parent who would flog you. We can see the harsh and uncaring nature of the Birch.

In conjunction with a Signifier we see a person who is harsh, strict and to the point. But due to the Birch being associated with a Phallus we can sum that up to them being a D**K.

Birch also show us Repetition and Practice. The dedication that is needed to learn and master a craft. It also shows us the method of Correction, while this can be harsh and even painful. It can help shape our focus.

Discord, Discomfort and Friction are all shown within the Birch. It is combative and reactive. The strike that lashes out to hurt. In social settings, we see this as a sign of disharmony to come. Where Birch falls Arguments are born.

We can also see that Birch shows us Manual labour. Work that we do with our hands. So it can also indicate craftspeople, due to the skill and physical nature of the work.

Birch can also be a sign of repeated magical action. Or even the obsessive focus and attention of a person.

As always remember that Context is Key, and allow the space to consider what is being expressed broadly as well as narrowly.

Keep an eye out for tomorrows post, Birds.

Love and Manyfold Blessings.
