In the Getting Started with Lenormand post I provided a list of simple associations which included:
Man, Ace of Hearts, Significator, Querant or the Questioned
The Man Card is a Signifier. This can either be the Questioner or the Questionee.
Occasionally, (Especially in ‘General’ Readings) as Lenormand is so Literal it will show the relationship between the Diviner and the Questioner. As in ‘You are getting divination at this moment with this Reader’. Generally, it can be considered that this is a sign to listen closely to the Reader.
Gender is weird. It is worth noting that even the Gender of the card is subjective to context.
For example, I (Asphodelo), as a Cisgender man have shown up in spreads of cards both as the Man or the Lady card. Depending on the personal expression of the Questioner.
Man can refer to AMAB people, male Identifying people and everything in between. Therefore it is most useful to view it as a Person above a Gender Identifier and read around it to see who it refers to.
As always remember that Context is Key, and allow the space to consider what is being expressed broadly as well as narrowly.
