In the previous post, Protection Magic. We discussed why Protection is so essential and the dangers of sharing our true names and birth details.
What do we do if this happens? How do we reclaim our safety?
First, it is worth noting that the layperson is very rarely Cursed, and the average practitioner is full of more hot air than skill. Thorough cleansing is enough to deal with low-skill Malefica. But if in doubt, do Divination or have someone do the Divination for you. I prefer Lenormand for Divination about Magic as it is so literal and to the point.

Cards such as Mountain, Clouds, Serpent, Rod, Coffin, Scythe, Fox, Cross, Mouse and even the Birds can be indications of Malefica in the context of the question asked.

Now onto the second most important skill for a practitioner. Reversals and Curse Breaking.
I have a no tolerance/no mercy policy for those who decide to curse the ones I love or me. I do not indulge in indiscriminate Malefica. However, I am not a pacifist, I do not tolerate bullies and abusers.
To this end, I offer both Candle petitions
And the Chain Breaker. The most excellent Curse Breaker and Road opening Work
But I believe that we should all know how to do this Work. Here is my method for a simple Curse Breaking or Reversal:
To perform this Spell, you will need either a Black or Red Candle. (I like Black for breaking and Red for reversal)
Inscribe the name and details of the person who you are removing the Malefic from onto the candle. (Name, date, time and location of birth if known). You can also inscribe any Sigils that appeal to you.
Speak to the candle ‘You candle are now the Focus of X. All magic done to you works though X. 10-fold, 100-fold, etc. As I say it is done.’
Now anoint the candle from the base to the tip with olive oil. (We are sending back the Malefica to the sender). You can dust with additional herbs if you choose to. Black pepper or chillies are both good options. Place into a candle holder. (Preferably in a well-ventilated and fire-safe area). As you light the candle, speak:
To Break:
‘You candle who burns destroy all Malefica sent against X. With the fury of fire, burn away all malaise and sickness from X. Purify them with Sacred flame. Leave them pure as Sacred white Ashes. Reborn and renewed. As I say it is done.’
To Reverse:
‘You candle who burns return all Malefica sent against X. With the fury of fire, burn away all malaise and sickness from X. With sacred retribution rain your fury down upon their enemy. Let no mercy be shown to the sender. 10-fold, 100-fold, etc. Let nothing be left but ashes. As I say it is done.’
You can change the wording to align with what you are comfortable with. Or you can Invoke Spirits whom you have an established relationship with who can assist with this Work.
After this type of Work, do thorough physical and spiritual cleansing. Including cleansing your home if necessary. Lemon juice and salt in mop water or a spray bottle are sufficient for this. You can also make a simmer pot.
Following this check your Protections, Ward’s and discussing with your Spirit Court why this was able to bypass what protections you have. Then, take it as an opportunity to learn, access and rebuild.
In the case that someone has gained your name. Do a reclaiming ritual. Literally, snatch it from them. Use whatever imagery and materia make this feel empowering to you. You could even use a picture of your enemy and make an X over their mouth and eyes so they cannot see or speak of you. Or in the worst-case scenario. Use a cow tongue curse to make speaking your name the trigger for instant retribution.
In the case of Natal detail knowledge, do a blinding/binding against them. Be pre-emptive, and make specific protections against known enemies.
Or if they have used these details already to Curse you. You can twist back onto them what has been sent. You can do this even if you do not know the source. Use the Reversal petition but visualize any and all Malefica being sunk into the candle to power the Spell. Let their own Work be what burns them, with compound interest. Very few practitioners who like to throw Curses like they are confetti have anything remotely resembling solid protection, let alone contingency protections.
